Want to Speak French Fluently?
There are many methods that can help you to speak French fluently; however, most teachers agree that an immersion course is one of the best possible techniques. An immersion course is a method of teaching French by continuously exposing the student to the language. The idea is that there are two effective ways to teach a foreign language. The first is to speak only that language right from day one, which would force you to look for new words in order to communicate effectively, and the other is to be exposed as long as possible to the language itself. So you should either live in a place where this language is spoken locally, like learning to speak French in France or have audio-visual aids that will give you that impression.
A French immersion course can give you excellent results in how to speak French in as short a time as three months. This is because when you are constantly exposed to the sound of the French vocabulary, it is sub-consciously being imprinted in your mind. This constant exposure and imprinting makes it so that eventually you learn French so well that you don't have to mentally search very hard to find the French words you want to use.
Once you have gotten to the point where you can actually think in French, then you will know that you have mastered the language though this method of intensive French study. An immersion course makes a "knowledge deposit" in your brain, which will guide your every time you attempt to speak the language.
How do you find a good immersion course? Start your quest on the internet. Run a search for immersion courses that teach how to learn French and are offered near your home or work. If you do not have anything close by, then try online or regular correspondence courses that are designed to teach you to speak French fluently. Correspondence courses have you practice phonetics with the help of audio-visual aids, such as MP3s, DVDs, CD-ROMs, etc. The disadvantage with a correspondence French course is there is no way to know whether you are learning correctly, since there is no interactivity. This is not a problem, however, with the online courses. These courses offer you the option of chatting with a qualified expert, as well as interactive classes for those who prefer that method.
Learning any language is a challenge. Yet, if you try and keep things fun and interesting, then you will have a better chance of succeeding. Finding a French language course that fits your needs is the first step. Once you have determined what is going to work with your life and your schedule, then you will be on your way to learning to speak French fluently.
